What is hospital discharge transportation?

Hospital discharge transportation is a non-emergency ride that takes a patient out of the hospital once they're medically cleared to leave. The destination is usually home, a rehab center, a skilled nursing facility, or assisted living.

The ride type depends on how the patient is doing. Someone who can sit and walk a few steps can go by car with a driver's help. Someone in a wheelchair goes by lift van. Someone who has to lie flat goes by stretcher with a two-person crew. Discharges rarely happen at a precise time, so the transport company has to work with the nursing staff: confirm the room, wait for paperwork, and carry the patient's belongings. Naeli handles discharges from hospitals across west metro Atlanta, including bed-to-bed transfers into a facility or the patient's own bed at home.
